ABOUT THE BAND
Self-Titled EP - Streaming Everywhere
The sounds of Honey Wild are just as its name would suggest: smooth and sweet, yet unrestrained. Pairing honest lyrics with jazzy chords and thunderous beats, Honey Wild is bluesy, high-energy rock and roll.
The band was founded in 2018 by New Jersey singer-songwriter Hana Denson. Through the local DIY music scene, she connected with guitarist and songwriter Cristian Fernandez, drummer Russ Grimm, bassist Michael Notarmaso, and pianist Daniel Rofer. Their self-titled EP is now streaming everywhere
Vocals / Songwriter
Hana Denson was a musical theater kid in elementary and high school. A trained vocalist at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division, NYU's CAP21, and during a brief stint at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT, her musical history includes opera, choir, acapella, hard rock, jazz, blues, and cover-band pop. As the band's main songwriter, she relies on knowledge gained from equal parts classical training and experimentation to create songs that cross genres and dodge predictability.
Guitar / Vocals / Songwriter
Cristian Fernandez is a veteran of the NJ music scene, having played in several local and touring acts at festivals such as Bamboozle and Warped Tour as well as venues such as The Stone Pony and Starland Ballroom. Over a decade of live experience crossing several genres informs both his songwriting and the effect-laden soundscapes created with his guitar playing.
Russell Grimm was a high school marching band drum captain. Since then, his projects have included cover bands in his mother's basement and New Brunswick pop-punk in other people's mothers basements. Years of experience playing with various acts across several genres have lead him to produce an eclectic, dynamic, tasteful, visceral drum sound that sets the tone for Honey Wild's unique brand of rock and roll. He's also great at staring off moodily into the distance.
Michael Notarmaso was born and raised in NJ, where his bass-career began as a teenager playing upright bass in his high school's jazz band. He soon transitioned into playing electric bass in various alt-indie rockbands in high school and college. His jazz roots are clearly evident, adding foundational layers of sound to Honey Wild's sonic canvas.
Daniel Rofer is a Brazilian pianist and composer, who studied at EMESP (Sao Paulo State School of Music) in Brazil. Daniel was the coordinator of the Instituto Grão de Areia, which provides free music lessons to impoverished youth in Sao Paulo. His current projects include solo piano compositions, soundtracks, autoral bands, and teaching.
